"Artist-In-Residence" Update – May 2020

Like pretty much everyone else, my summer plans have been completely upended by the Covid-19 pandemic, and like all musicians, I’m stuck at home (i.e. a literal “artist-in-residence”). Although the mid-semester adjustment to teaching online practically overnight was exhausting, I’m deeply grateful for continued good health, the opportunity to work from home and to shelter in place with my wonderful family. Summer gigs and travel are obviously cancelled, so having now wrapped up my teaching semester, I’ve pivoted to writing new music and have added a few new elements to my practice routine. I’m collaborating with friends across the country on doing some remote multitrack recording, and hope to have something to share with you soon. I’m also about to start working with a great mixing engineer on the “quintet+string orchestra” album that I recorded a few months ago; trying to stay on schedule for a spring 2021 release date. More soon…
